Clubs
Attending a club is always a pleasant way to spend the break time. At SIS-Yas Island, we offer various clubs where our students have the opportunity to further explore and develop their passions and talents.
Music Club
Held at break time for grades 3 to 12, the Music Club gives our students the opportunity to explore their musical talents. They would later perform and showcase their talent and skills on stage during talent shows, events, and various celebrations.
Chess Club
Offered for students in grades 3 to 12, the Chess Club is a favorite among our students. Playing chess results in improved brain function, memory, cognitive abilities, strategic thinking, and attention. Besides all the benefits, our students look forward to the annual chess tournament.
Art Club
Where do our students go to pursue their passion for art? The Art Club of course. Here, our students can improve their painting and crafting skills while meeting and socializing with students who share the same interests. Available during break time for students in grades 3 to 12, the Art Club students are involved in many school projects and showcase their artwork during the annual art exhibition.
Drama Club
The Drama Club offers students a creative space to explore and express themselves through acting, scriptwriting, and stage production. Under the guidance of passionate teachers, the club welcomes members of all experience levels, encouraging them to collaborate on various performances, from classic plays to original student-written works. Students develop essential skills such as teamwork, public speaking, and problem-solving, while gaining confidence and a love for the performing arts. With exciting opportunities to participate in school productions, the Drama Club is a dynamic and inclusive environment where creativity and self-expression flourish.
Reading Club
The Reading Club, led by dedicated prefects, is a vibrant space where students come together to explore the world of books. The club encourages a love for reading by offering a variety of genres and discussing books in engaging group sessions. Prefects guide discussions, share book recommendations, and organize fun activities related to literature. It's an ideal place for students to improve their reading skills, expand their imaginations, and connect with fellow book lovers.
Sports Tournaments
Sports tournaments are the best way to stay active and engage in friendly competition. With different sports to choose from, our students stay focused on the ultimate goal: win the title of "best team" and bring home the cup!
Football
It's a fact: Football always sparks excitement among all students. This highly appreciated sport is played by students of all ages, and tournaments are organized for students in grades 3 to 12.
Basketball
Shooting hoops with your friends is great. Participating in a tournament and going for the gold is amazing. Organized for students in grades 5 to 12, the competition gets better with every match.
Dodgeball
A newly introduced sports tournament, dodgeball got everyone involved and excited. Organized in a safe environment during break time for students in grades 9 to 12, dodgeball caught on fast in popularity among students.
Track & Field
Track and Field is an exciting event that brings together students to showcase their athletic talents and compete in various events, including sprints, long-distance races, relays, and field events like long jump, high jump, and shot put. The tournament fosters school spirit, teamwork, and sportsmanship, with students of all skill levels participating. It's a day filled with energy, determination, and friendly competition, as athletes strive to break personal records and bring pride to their school.
Swimming
The Senior Swimming Gala invites boys and girls from Grades 6 to 10 to showcase their skills in a competitive and spirited event. Swimmers will compete in various strokes, displaying endurance, technique, and sportsmanship.
The Junior Swimming Gala offers a fun and encouraging platform for young swimmers from Grades 2 to 5 to dive into friendly competition. It's a great opportunity for budding athletes to build confidence and enjoy the excitement of racing in a supportive environment.
Activities
At SIS-Yas Island, we believe that student engagement in a multitude of activities is important for their well-being and development. In line with this belief, we encourage and celebrate our students' participation and achievements in all domains, whether sports, music, drama, or the arts.
Ballet
Break time opens many opportunities to learn new things. Taking ballet lessons is one of them. Ballet improves posture and balance, which contributes to a leaner, more graceful, and elegant appearance. Our young ballerinas will later participate in competitions between SABIS® schools and will showcase their talent during the annual ballet show.
Gymnastics
For our students who are interested in gymnastics, this activity is available during break time for students in grades 1 to 9. Our keen gymnasts have the opportunity to participate in competitions organized between SABIS® schools and attend the end-of-year gymnastics show.
Break Time Fun
Break time brings plenty of fun activities and events. Organized for students in grades 2 to 12, this fortnight, fun-filled event engages our students in sports activities, dancing, and other exciting experiences.
